I have read much about the civil war. This story made it real. I recommend it to any civil war reader. I always read reviews and was disappointed when I started reading to find very poor editing. Spelling, misuse of words and unbelievably poor sentence structure prompt me to question if anyone read or reviewed the book before offering it to the customer.

I was unable to enjoy the story due to the distracting grammar and unprofessional editing and therefore did not finish the book. The background is very authentic in relation to the Civil War era. The story has you turning the pages to follow the protagonist as he struggles to fight and survive the war that has torn his country apart. This book was so riddled with mistakes I didn't even finish it. It could not have been proof read.

Hard Times-A Civil War Story

Don't waste your money on it unless you want to see a poorly written book. The author must not reviewed his own work.

Grammar was terrible. Some sentences made no sense at all. It's as if book was never proofread before pri. Storyline was decent.

See a Problem?

It's as if book was never proofread before printing. I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone. This is written about the cumberlands area of Tennessee which I have traveled and hiked over so it was quite interesting. I enjoyed the writing and the history interwoven in the fictional characters. It realistically showed life at that time in our history. The story line was fine, but the "stream of consciousness" style of writing, with lack of punctuation, and horrific spelling made reading almost unbearable.
