With the Internet of Things another layer is added but in the end it again is about information and how it is used for human goals and automation, with a focus on moving from data to actionable intelligence and in the end transaction, interaction etc. The Internet of Things is an additional layer of information, interaction, transaction and action which is added to the Internet thanks to devices, equiped with data sensing, analysis and communication capabilities, using Internet protocols.
In his IoT book , Windpassinger looks at technologies, strategies and the transformational impact of the Internet of Things. In other words: IoT does have a history and knowing it does help in better understanding IoT and its many aspects and, indeed, definitions. Yet, more about that later.
