New Jersey, Eric Hazan, author of the acclaimed Invention of Paris, takes the reader on a walk from Ivry to Saint-Denis, roughly following the meridian that divides Paris into east and west, and passing such familiar landmarks as the Luxembourg Gardens, the Pompidou Centre, the Gare du Nord and Montmartre, as well as forgotten alleyways and arcades. Drawing on his own life story, as surgeon, publisher and social critic, Hazan vividly illustrates the interplay and concord between a city and the personality it forms.

How do the French create the alluringly beautiful sanctuaries they call home — formal yet comfortable, organized yet casual, filled with decorative objects that are also a practical part of their everyday lives? What may feel effortless is not, of course, and in Home Sweet Maison, Danielle Postel-Vinay shares what she has learned about the French art of making a home.

Through a transformative friendship with a Frenchwoman who mentored her in the good life, her marriage to a Parisian man, and years of immersive research while living in France, Postel-Vinay learned the true essence of how the French live la belle vie. The Practical: how to use mise-en-place, or the French art of organization, in your kitchen, and how to find the right stain-removing potions to create your own French laundry. The Sensual: the way the French employ scent in their home as a personal signature. The Philosophical: the idea that every room in a French house has a specific purpose, and that the activity in one room should never bleed into the others.

Une mesure déjà appliquée dans certaines villes

Seriously good comfort food with delicious veggies and beans. It was a seriously cold night and my mother and I were desperately searching for a vegan place to eat in. Luckily we found this. I remember the dish not being too filling, but it was delicious. Nice atmosphere, friendly and quiet staff, food good and filling, if not always wildly inspiring.

Perhaps little expensive for what it is but not too bad and good location just around corner from notre dame. Good restaurant, the customer feels respected in comparison to most Parisian places where you struggle to communicate and the service is "fast food" like. Interesting dishes, friendly but very expensive because it's near Notre Dame 18 euro per plate. I first visited years ago when they had a more "macrobiotic" focus, but they have a more modern menu now.

It used to be one of the few vegetarian restaurants in Paris, and it was nice to have such a good reliable place so centrally located. Now, there are zillion amazing veg restaurants in Paris, and I might only recommend this if you're nearby and it's convenient. The food is solidly good, and tasty, but not amazing. The little side street it's on is charming, but there was construction last time I was there. The staff was friendly and accommodating. I'll return for sure, but if you only have a few days in Paris and want to experience the explosion of outstanding veg cuisine, I'd prioritize other places.

Wanted to like the place but cannot. Some tomato juice containing 3 pieces of potato, 3 slices of a vegan sausage, many white beans and no special taste.

Definitely not worth There were two waiters, one was nice and spoke quite well English. The other one gave the impression that he's not really interested in his job. I will never go there again and don't understand some of the comments here Simple but delicious vegetarian and vegan fare in the heart of the Latin quarter.

Unpretentious but delicious. Vegan options are clearly labeled. Ordered the Spaghetti and cassoulet both had not any green type vegetables in them or with them. Pros: lots of vegan options, clearly labelled, great location - so close to Notre Dame. Various ingredients, very well mixed and delicious!
